How awesome is that?
Being a Mommy is awesome. I never would have guessed I’d enjoy it so much.

We bought a new DSLR camera before our cruise in March. I haven’t mastered all the functions yet, but it’s amazing how much better the quality is compared to our old Elph. Don’t get me wrong, our little Elph has served us well over the years but the shutter was just too slow to keep up with my active toddler. Lately Maya has been into having her picture taken. This is very unlike her, since previously she didn’t want to hold still long enough or smile so I could get a nice shot. Hopefully those days are over. Here’s my little supermodel:

Muah!

Drama Queen

Tasty
She ought to be in pictures.
We’ve been spending quite a lot of time in the back yard. I bought a little ducky watering can from the $1 bins at Target, and Maya loves to fill it up with the hose and water the plants. Mostly she likes to play with the hose. I also bought a little Nemo water sprinkler that she has fun playing with. Our yard is pretty small so she can’t run around much, but she loves to be outside making a mess.

Filling up the ducky
We went strawberry picking a few days ago, and brought home 2 buckets of fresh, ripe berries. I’ve been making popsicles from the pureed fruit. They’re definitely a hit. And how cute are these popsicle molds??!

Yummy yummy!
This was her 3rd pop of the day. I had to make more today since she’d eaten all but 1. This time I tried adding some vanilla yogurt to the puree. Hopefully they are as good as the first batch.

Egg Hunting
On Saturday Maya experienced her first ever Easter egg hunt. We attended the hunt at a local church, and there were lots of families there enjoying the festivities. On Easter morning the Easter bunny hid eggs around the house so Maya could hunt for them when she woke up. Then we dyed some eggs and enjoyed a lazy morning at home.

Ducky brains are tasty
Maya ate tons of chocolate eggs and bit the head off her ducky. She hasn’t gotten to the bunny yet.
We went to Grandma’s for dinner which was a lot of fun. All in all a great day.
My baby isn’t my baby anymore. Maya celebrated her 2nd birthday with a big party in Miami. Her abuelos rented a Dora and Diego bounce house, and she DID NOT want to get out of it! That means I spent my day in the bounce house with Maya while Eugene did the grilling. I wish I time to talk to everyone but someone had a mean case of mom-itis. Oh well, it was great fun anyway!
My daughter is the cutest baby ever. I’m not biased or anything.

I can hardly believe another year has come and gone. The fact that Maya turns 2 in just one month boggles my mind. She is talking even more now, and has even started singing songs. Her vocabulary seemed to explode over Christmas break. As usual, we headed to Miami for the holiday. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of Maya opening gifts on Christmas day. I did get a few at Mom’s on New Years.

My favorite part of Christmas this year was telling Maya about Santa Claus. I can’t wait until next year when she’ll really start to understand. For now, if you ask her what Santa says she’ll give you a “ho ho ho”. Maybe next year we’ll be able to leave cookies and milk for the big guy. And a carrot for Rudolph, of course.
Eugene and I are going on a cruise on March 7th for Spring Break. Our first vacation in 3 years! Maya will be spending the week with her abuelos, and they couldn’t be more excited. I think everyone will have a great time. When we get back from the ship we’ll have a party in Miami for her 2nd birthday. I can’t wait!
Maya went to her first Wiggles concert on 11/19 at the O Dome. She had a great time dancing and seeing all the Wiggles and their friends. Here are a few pics from the evening:
The Wiggles actually come down and walk around the venue during the concert.
I switched seats so Maya could have room to stand and dance!
She was totally into it by then end of the show. There were some Wiggles stickers on our seats, and Maya decorated us, and her hand with them.
Our seats were great and once Maya had more room to dance around so she really enjoyed it. The show was very entertaining and I’m sure it won’t be our last!
Maya took some Halloween pics at Picture People on Friday.
This shot above captures her personality the best!
I may be a bit biased, but I think she’s just gorgeous!
We went Trick or Treating in Haile last night. Of course, Mommy and Daddy didn’t think to use the freakin’ video camera to record the excursion. Ugh!
